FLOAT PLANES
This Narrative Collage was developed out of Dee’s 2021 ‘Pine Needles’ artist residency, sponsored by the Science Museum of Minnesota. Working with scientists from the museum’s St. Croix Watershed Research Station, Dee created this piece that highlights float planes — one of an array of vehicles that scientists use to reach their (often) remote research sites. In addition to the plane images, this collage includes maps, excerpts from scientific notebooks, data sheets, scientific measurement imagery and more.
