DESIGN PROCESS

Whether creating an abstract work of art or designing a Narrative Collage, a+a Studio’s Principal, Dee Etzwiler, produces stunning imagery that expresses client messages. To achieve this, Dee works collaboratively with clients and design teams while guiding projects through a linear design process. This approach gives Dee the opportunity to tailor her digitally-developed art prior to printing and installation. Clients appreciate this inclusive process and enjoy watching the evolution of their custom art unfold.

Collaborative Design Steps:

  • Discovery Stage: Gather client and project information

  • Spatial Studies: Study interior and exterior spaces for installation projects

  • Program Development: Develop a design program that includes desired imagery, colors and textures, as well as a project ‘descriptive list’ and more

  • Schematic Design: Initial art development and the creation of conceptual design(s)

  • Feedback Phase(s): Gain feedback from client as the design develops

  • Design Development: Fine tune the art

  • Approval: Obtain client approval of the art

  • Printing Phase: Art is commercially printed on high quality printing substrates with high quality inks

  • Incorporate art:

    1. Install art and/or produce limited edition prints. a+a Studio coordinate’s the commercial printing of the art and oversees professional installations

    2. Art in digital format: clients have the opportunity to have a digital file of the approved art for unlimited use

Working Digitally

Dee creates and develops her art in a sophisticated digital program. This exciting and fluid medium gives her much control over the art’s dimensions, the color palette and the overall composition. Dee layers her digital works with colors, textures, symbolism, text, painterly gestures, patterns, and other artistic effects. When she has completed a work of art, the image may become commercially printed and/or used in digital applications. Please visit the Formats & Applications page for more information on the variety of ways to incorporate Dee’s work.
